Basketball New South Wales (BNSW) the governing body of basketball in the state of New South Wales, was founded in 1938. Over the past seven decades BNSW has grown from just four member associations at its inception to one hundred associations today.

Easts Basketball League competitions follow all FIBA approved rules with a few exceptions noted in appropriate rules below. EBL's ethos is fair play and good sportsmanship. All players must adhere to our Rules and Code of Conduct and failure to do so may result in sanctions or termination from the competition.

The Rules. Basketball is a team sport. Two teams of five players each try to score by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The court is divided into two main sections by the mid-court line.
There is a bonus free throw after the fifth foul per period of the game. The numbers of players allowed on a free throw lane are five—3 defensive players and 2 offensive players. All the jersey numbers for the basketball players are legal cording to NBA.
